Hens can retain sperm for much longer than two and a half weeks. Also, partridge-looking chicks could result from a number of different crosses. You have many mutts, including ones of unknown origin, so they could actually have partridge genes that aren’t apparent. You can’t be sure the chick was even partridge, not a mixed coloring, if you sold it before it’s adult feathering came it. White silkies usually are partridge under their recessive white, so I don’t see any reason why it couldn’t be one of your other roosters x the white silkie hen.Yep, 100% sure of the parents. I was breeding silkies after having a 2½ week wait with the females to pass the other roosters sperm.
Only two crosses happened, one was a Silkie D'uccle cross. That one was Lavender, & cream. Second was a blue Cuckoo. Father was a Phoenix/OEGB cross. Mother must've been carrying Cuckoo.
Partridge Satin was pure with smooth feathers. I had no partridge silkie pullets at that time, so the only father was the SQ Partridge Silkie. Mother was a white silkie.
There were a few Porcelain D'uccle/Silkie cross chicks that died in their shell, so those aren't counted.
