How many chicks do you hope to get to select from? I guess all the extras can be culled/processed for eating if they can't be sold otherwise. If I do F1s with Heritage Plymouth Barred Rock, & Silkie I'm planning on back crossing to Silkie to restore Silkie traits(Same with Silkie X Malay F1s), after that I'm gonna take the best looking of each, & hopefully get some Duns, & Dun Barred offspring for a different color option.
These of course will be bred to my F2, original(Silkie/Brahma X Silkie), Rooster Floof, extending more color possibilities, introducing Silver Columbian into the genepool.
Keeping the size Giant is the main goal though, so I'll be only selecting the largest offspring for breeding.
I think I'll go as much as 8 - 10 this year, increase my average amount of 4 per hatch, though I do good with small hatches. How many chicks do you hope to get to select from? I guess all the extras can be culled/processed for eating if they can't be sold otherwise.
