GIL’S WORLD EMERGENCY 💔

I agree. Looks like a sprain. Shame on her playing with sex toys. Give her about 10 days of quiet. I think she will be fine. I have one limping right now from drake action. Don't worry, this is a common injury. Think about if you had to run around all the time without arms, you might twist an ankle. It she doesn't start to be better in a few days come back.

I have this on hand for me, is it safe for her?TS will be closed by the time I can make it there tonight :(

Cattle injectable B from TSC. Says injectable but squirt it on some peas or other treats for her. 1ml a day.

thank you so much for helping us out!!!! ♥️ I’ve dealt with all the little issues but this is by far the scariest issue we’ve dealt with. Would you recommend I try aspirin for pain or is there a greater chance of accidentally making her sick?

She likely had some sort of soft tissue damage to her leg area, nothing too uncommon with ducks. These problems tend to appear at some point in time with most flocks. Ducks are designed to be good at swimming but are poor on land, so tend to trip over things often, or get their legs caught in things.

Rest will ultimately be the best medicine here. So keep her in a soft padded area for a while until she starts walking better. If you think pain is a concern you can give a human NSAID like aspirin or Ibuprofen. The dose for aspirin is one 325mg tablet per 250ml of water. The Iburprofen dosage is 5-10mg/kg two-three times a day. Or if using the liquid ( 100mg per five ML/ 20mg per ml) you can administer 0.11ml per pound of bodyweight.

Do note a few things. These drugs are intended for humans, and while they have been used in pain for birds, without any problems, overtime, GI tract distribution may occur if they're given for longer than two weeks. Please also note these drugs directly interfere with the bird's pain receptors making the bird think her legs are better faster, that is good, but will also cause her to walk on her legs too soon and possibly reinjured them. SO if you do choose to administer an NSAID, limit her mobility so she can't reinjure the leg.

I agree B vitamins would be helpful.

Separate her inside in area where she can't move much, you can also make her a chicken sling, it may be sprained, if ti is, then it should heal with in 3-30 days at low movement. Pu some electrolytes in her water, with niacin if possible, and keep her chill. She should be just fine, Aspirin is good, but also be aware that as long as it hurts, she will keep herself chill, and if it doesn't sh may try to squirm out of a sling, and get rambunctious.
