LOL definetly don't end up with a large breed rooster

We had one and the first crow he let out was loooooud. He had to sleep inside for a few months until we found a friend to take him. Sadly, he was killed about a week ago. He was the sweetest thing. I raised him from a little baby.

cant have roosters anyways. i will have either asmal order from ideal, drive up to Meyers hatchery, go down to the Rogers auction, find amish farm or hatch my own again. i promised my bator to my sons school for a spring hatch .Maybe i pay for the eggs and i get to keep the chicks. I have a lady who will take ny rooster of my hands,so no problems there.

One more question . Do bantam versions od regular size chickens, lets say a banty plymouth rock, say as many eggs as theregular size hen? Or are say just ornamental?

I have a mixed flock of Buff Orps(3) a Black Australorp and a Std Cochin
My BO's are the most friendly. My Cochin is very timid and my BA is really stand ofish

They're a riot!!

I agree with Mrs. AK - you think brahmas don't have personality?!? I intended on giving mine all mythological names. Ended up naming them by their unique and funny personalities instead. Including the one I named after my SO's ex wife.

I was just kidding. I was just thinking about how we tried so hard to end up with low profile chickens because we are in the city too and we end up with the LOUDEST rooster ever

I don't know if they lay less often, check this site. http://www.ithaca.edu/staff/jhenderson/chooks/chooks.html It tells you what color eggs and how often each breed will lay. Actually I don't know if it will tell you about bantam versions of regular breeds. My guess is that it would probably not effect the # of eggs. Some bantams lay a lot more than others.

If bantams, Wyandottes are much quieter than my light brahma's. Also friendlier. Figured if you had silkie, can't have standards as most silkies would get eaten alive by standards.
