Girls vs Girls

I would think you would like mallards. A very natural and untainted bird, still able to fly and fend for themselves and hid nests (right in plain site). My mom had some mallards, but they do just leave. I'll never forget Quacker Jacks story on hatch day of her mallards taking off on the wing, and her chasing them around the block!!! LOL My moms abandoned her when the felt like it. I think you have to either keep tops on their cages (maybe the peafowl pens??) so they don't vacate. Lots of people love them for their beauty, and the fact that they can truly fly to evade predators (with some notice, slow to take off but very fast fliers).

They truly are amazing birds! Luckily when I free ranged mine they didn't seem to want to leave. Maybe if I had in the spring they would have tried. They have such primitive insticts it's quite amazing

Are their any color deviations on a mallard but still the same bird otherwise? Any mutant or melanistic stuff going on with them?

I'd like magpie call ducks.....

I believe there's a "Blue Mallard" that's quite pretty.

Magpies are so pretty!
