Given a bird with broken leg....the break is 2 weeks old...what to do?

Possibly a slipped tendon. The hip area is infected because she had been left immobile, so she was laying on that leg in her own poop for over a week.

I vote slipped tendon. Does her leg stick outward or inward when she sits? Poor bird. A slipped tendon can be very painful. Even more painful to try and slip back in. I'd continue with the sling to give her some relief.

As for her wound from laying in her poop, that's awful. I'm happy that you took her in... You have a kind heart.

Since she looks wet, I feel like you gave her a bath already. What are you doing to treat her infection?

Any idea what caused her original injury?

She is not walking at this time...she can manuver herself around with her good leg and wings for balance...I was told that she was injured when a Pekin drake got aggressive with her and for a day or two she was only limping.

Just gave her an Epson salt bath....she looked pretty relaxed in the warm water....Have not started anti-biotics yet because I didn't notice the infection until after I gave her the bath and cleaned her up. I have some Oxytetracycline, Penicillin and possibly Tylan...but I think I am out. Was going to put some iodine on the open sore and then put some neopsorin on the infected area...I also have Blu-Kote.

Her good leg rests under her body like normal, the other lays strait out behind her.
