Gladys is not feeling well.

She seems to be a little livelier this morning. I let her outside and she just went back into her house. It started raining so I just brought her back inside. I gave her the second dose at 10:00am. Off for the day performing at a festival, I'll check back in this evening. Thank you all soooo much!

How is she today?
Hi, just got in. She seems stable though still not hungry or active. She did walk over from the back corner of her inside room and seemed a little perky. Drinking plenty of fresh water. 4th dose of CG this morning. I let her walk around in the basement, she's holding her head high and cleaning feathers after water so that's encouraging. We're in the middle of bad weather so she's going to stay inside for a few more days.

Goood day all. the girls is still with us and improving though her appetite is still weak. She made a round today for the first time since she fell ill. From out back, up a hill on the side yard and then to the backyard for a bath. She's sleeping by her pond at the moment. I just got in and am about to bring her inside for the evening.

So my question: How long should I continue with the calcium gluconate treatments? She is far from 50% better.

I just noticed your also in Western NC. no wonder your weather has been like ours. Do you have calcium Citrate? First has she laid? Usually calcium gluconate is short term to get the egg moving but calcium citrate can be given long term. Thing is we don't know if this is an egg bound problem or maybe infection of something else.

Thanks so much for your reply. Yes we have Calcium Citrate in pills that we take regularly.
She laid a small egg about a month ago and another a week later. She hasn't been a regular layer for awhile. Maybe 2 years. Her appetite is coming back a little, been feeding her big nite crawlers that she gobbles down, bought her a new brand of food, got a couple of treat things from Tractor Supply and she did nibble some.

On infection. She did seem to have a fever after this started and was shivering so that might have been part of the problem. She's not showing those symptoms at all now.

Oh, and her poop isn't cookie dough.

So sounds like she is making improvements. That’s awesome. If you can crush up the citrate and feed it to her over something she really likes? I think it’s 250mgs. @casportpony I believe has the dose.
