Well of course, it wouldn't be a spirit if Sapphire was dead. It would be Mitts have a phycological breakdown and possible mental illness like Skitzophrenia

( this whole story would make more sense of Mitts, the one who starts a lot of the problems, had a deeper mental disorder that caused her poor reasoning and understanding skills.)

Sparrow kept up her pace. She was getting tired, though. Running up an inclined slope for a long time was not easy. She powered through the undergrowth and burst into a large field. Her muscles ached and burned with the effort as she hauled herself onto a rock and looked around. The air was quiet and still, and fireflies lit up the clearing. Sparrow stood there for a minute, panting hard, trying to catch her breath. Thats when she heard the voice:
