Glued Eye Shut of Baby Chick Natural Remedy

Received chicks in mail but one had it’s eyes glued shut and was basically blind. This is the natural treatment I gave it that works great! I did lots of research before performing it. I also have a a degree in Biology so I kinda know this stuff.
Honey & water

water

coconut oil (mixsolid into a soft cream)

Steps:

1. rinse eye with warm water. Make sure to make it very wet without toutching it. And make sure the water isn’t too warm/hot

2 wait 20 seconds

3 drop honey water into eye

4 very very very carefully wipe eye in a downward or upper motion: depending on how it’s glued. * this step should maybe performed in the 2nd or 3rd depending on severity

5 put coconut cream around eye area
Here’s a pic of what I’ve been treating her with and I’m happy to say that she’s recovering great!

Hello! I am so happy to find this thread. I had a chick I hatched that was malpositioned in the egg. It fought to get out, took longer than normal, but finally did. I soon realized there appeared to be a film over both eyes, they were stuck open, but I could see the pupil under the film.

I tried to clean them with distilled water and warm compress to losen the material. It helped a little. Then I brought it to the vet. They did some work and it actually looked worse and very red after the attempt to clear the eyes. The day after it sadly looks even worse. I'll post the before and after pics soon.

I'm hand feeding it chick feed mixed with vitamin/electrolyte solution and a little yogurt 7 times a day, about every 2 hrs.

I am applying artificial tears gel from the vet 2x per day, but the eyes are crusted open and not staying hydrated.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Saline eye wash a few times a day and a little Neosporin in each eye twice a day. Organs and wet tissue such as eyes and in the case of wet wounds, need saline to balance the tissue chemistry. Plain water actually disturbs this balance and can actually hurt, and you can experience this by letting the shower flood your eyes. The more minerals in the water, the more pain and irritation it causes.

Get saline eye wash, saline lubricating eye drops to rinse the eyes. This will do more than anything to clear up those little eyes and make them feel better. The Neosporin will fight any bacteria that may be causing issues.

You could try putting ice or cold water on the eye.
