I'm planning to start small this spring in middle tn on my small farm. Any input is welcomed if you are familiar with the Nashville area/climate. Thank you!

Welcome to Backyard chickens. I think the best place for those questions is your state thread. Put "Tennessee state thread" in the search box. You can also ask what breeds do best in the locale etc. Hopefully you also find some BYC friends.

Hi, welcome to BYC and i wish you good luck with your impending farming venture!

Best wishes

How exciting to start a new flock! Have you decided what breed(s) you want?

If you have questions, always feel free to ask.

Thanks for joining us!

I have not decided... I'm really green and just beginning my research. I like to get out of town from time to time so am still trying to determine if/how to handle the 'flock' while away.

Murray McMurray has an excellent "chick selector" tool at https://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/chick_selector.html to help you determine which breeds are best for for. Just be sure and click on "show more characteristics." Even if you don't purchase your birds from Murray, the chick selector is still a valuable tool.
