Im not going to get into the debate on DE killing worms in anyone’s guts, but if it is true, wouldn’t you be worried that it could be slicing up your gut too? I will say I use DE in the veggie garden and it works there great! Im guessing it would probably kill gnats too if you can get it on them. I may try it after all this rain passes....

no. just do a little research on the product. too much of anything is never good, and always follow advice, instructions.

i wiped out a white fly infestation in my polytunnel with DE successfully.
you can get high grade food quality at any health food shop. and here in Ireland, a lot of the vets have it on hand.

True. that was for an example. Do the homework. research diatomaceous earth and read up on it.

Again I’m not going to get in the gut debate because I don’t think it’s been proven scientifically one way or another. I have read a lot about it, both positive and negative, and I used to take the stuff myself and I saw no difference. Maybe I was worm free already

Sorry im late to this, no worries im not under any false ideas about the DE. I have some i add to dust baths every time and it didnt do anything for the Swarms of gnats. Were not talking about normal pest control here, these things blew up in swarms all across the south and its been in the news here now too about all the livestock that have died.

You know also if i didnt spray the chemical i would still be fighting the gnats off of myself and i wouldnt be able to bring the kids outside. I should include how the deet bug sprays didnt stop them from attacking me.

This entire thread is so disturbing. I first read about these buffalo gnats last week when The Chicken Chick posted an article about them. However, I didn’t seem to worry much because it said they like cooler temps and to be near running water. I have neither here in Alabama. But now I see these things are much farther south than I am so now I’m worried.

Why are they here and where did they come from? I haven’t seen them...yet and I hope I don’t. I am so sorry for everyone’s losses.
