I got a guinea hen and some keets too...i hope they help eat the gnats!

I'm in southeast Minnesota and the gnats are horrendous this year. I've never seen anything like it. Plague like. I spray with pyrethrin and vanilla/lemon regularly. I hope I don't lose any.

Lemme kno if u get any results, lot of people say they work. I tried the dryer sheets i have on another whim but they didnt do anything. Im sure the birds do All eat them based on the necropsy, just cant eat enough of em to make a difference.

I dont think mom can protect the babies from the gnats your going ro have to treat for them or risk loosing some of your flock members. I dont think they need to be brought in as long as you spray some permethrin. I have a hen with 5 chicks outside.

Sorry i didnt see this in my notifications but i was spraying about once a wk its detailed in my article how everytime it rained or the grass was cut i had to to keep it most effective.

Thankfully its been two wks now the gnats have Cleared Out!



It was 6-8 wks of war just like i was told it would be several times, it just felt so much worse in the trenchs. Ive double checked dates though, 6-8 wks. So glad its over. Still no more losses.
