You need some Ducks: We have those pesky gnats too here in WV. - Due to the recent wet weather they showed up in our yard, but the duckies made a quick snack out of them, i got bitten just 2-3 times…
And the ducks were stuffed and happy!
I recently got 3 ducklings. They were a few days old, still in the bathroom brooder and they were jumping up eating gnats that I guess I had brought in accidentally. I think I’d need a bigger flock to get all the ones outside though!
Did you see me mention your problem in the article? Still absolutely wild they clinically attest your poor mares death to these nasties![]()
Yes I noticed it. Thank you for mentioning her. In the past, the gnats are gone by the time it gets this hot and then the horseflies start. This year, the gnats are still here and the horseflies too, double wammy! I hope this isn’t the new normal...

Black flies have always been an 'up north' thing.A blog from Murry McMurry hatchery about the gnat problem with links at bottom with more info. Apparently they are a problem up north as well with all the flooding. A person from MN lost 19
