Gnats killing birds

Im going to carve out some time to write an article for the community if anyone still follows this and has anything theyd like to add to whats been posted here please tell me.
I'm all for it!! And right now I would say you an expert in the field of buffalo gnats. Sharing your experience with the community will raise awareness, especially to those who live in very damp areas like you do. Seems to be the perfect habitat for those buggers. Because of your post I was able to inform others who had posted about gnats but didn't know they could kill chickens, and I believe it saved some flocks. So kudos to you my friend! There can never be enough info out there,, especially if it is helping to save someones flock! :thumbsup

A small update.

Ive treated the gnats 8 times including neighboring places to best of my ability. Been thru so much spray.

Theyre Still here. I treat everytime the grass is cut or it rains. Its insane. I have welps on my arms now.

I have however been able to bring the children outside without Them getting bitten so the bugs arent bad anymore jus i spend too much time in the yard walkn thru the areas they swarm for the critters care. I keep treating the animals and their coops and cages too and still no more deaths.
What does 'treated' mean?
Sprayed the yard, coop, cages with permethrin?

I get those nasty welts too, they itch and hurt bad for a couple weeks on me...
....can't imagine dealing with little kids that have them too.

Yes ma'am thats what i mean.

Exactly, thats why even though theyre not bothering the birds who have also been sprayed, i have to keep it up. They dont really fuss about it and calamine lotion takes the initaial sting out for us but still its unpleasant.

You need some Ducks: We have those pesky gnats too here in WV. - Due to the recent wet weather they showed up in our yard, but the duckies made a quick snack out of them, i got bitten just 2-3 times…
And the ducks were stuffed and happy!

If only! I would Love ducks but DH says no :hit
