We are going to get some goats, hopefully tomorrow. They are Nubian goats and they are just babies. This is my first time having goats and I was just wondering if anybody had any suggestions on keeping Nubian goats. We will have to see the goats and then we will pick the gender we’re getting. I can’t wait to get them! If anybody has goats and pictures of them I would love to see and hear about them!
Hi 👋 I had some goats the males are very pushy always harassing the fm for s.e.x and always keep the male separated they usually stink of the female pee as they love bathing in it. So my recommendation would be two fm you can always borrow a male if you needed. They cute but you need to interact with them a lot so they listen.

Silly me I said Nigerian then it dawned on me Nubians...not fully awake I suppose

Make sure you have secure fencing. They are escape artists and will get out of. They can. Also watch for any bullying. One goat, usually female will make herself the queen of the herd and she may start yo really bully others, especially if you get an older doe that isn't in charge

I don’t have any currently but have had several in the past. Goats are very curious animals that can make good pets as well as useful livestock. They are much pickier eaters than the stereotypes would lead you to believe. They require a good mineral mix and adequate feed but careful not to over feed them. I would advise anyone to be cautious around a mature male goat they can be aggressive. I have seen some very aggressive ones but never had any myself. However I have had a couple dangerous ram sheep and culled them pretty quickly after being hit by them. As far as Nubians go they are my favorite breed of goat, and generally a good breed to work with, and pretty hardy.

I forgot to mention that goats both young and mature are very much susceptible to predation by coyotes or dogs so they will need to be kept in a securely enclosed area. You are probably already aware of that but just wanting to make sure to share that. Coyotes are the reason I no longer have sheep or goats.
