I got in touch with Debby this morning and she's having web hosting problems that she's trying to resolve. No fun at all.
Hosting is no easy task... I've been with 16 different companies and finally learned how important it is to be with a good company and do freequent backups.
Here's what I do to try to ensure that BYC will be around for a long time:
1) Create a daily copy of the existing forum database and compress it to a zip file
2) Leave a copy of that backup on the local server and send a copy to another server thousands of miles away.
3) Download all the daily backup files from that second server onto my local computer
4) Every once in a while burn all the backups to a DVD and store them at another physical location.
If you lost count, that's about 5 instances of the backup file that exist in locations all over the country... even if my house blew up and the server (in Atlanta) got hit by a hurricane, I've still got 3 other daily backups that can be loaded up.
