going into lockdown on my first hatch...nervous mom, please hang out with me....

First time hatcher here too! My babies are on day 20 now. They were rocking last night. No pips yet though! I'm so nervous too lol!

What do you do with all your chicks? I have a batch that just hatched out 29 and apparently we are still counting, I have another one due in a week plus I have another batch planned when the incubator frees up. I'm having fun :), but if they all hatch out as well as this round, that's a lot of chicks, lol.
I sometimes trade babies for eggs, the extras become food for some animal. Dogs, cats, snakes...All of them love to eat chicken.

I have my first pip! Today is the end of day 20 and I came home to the first pip. It is in one of the marans eggs. I am thrilled.

Okay....4hours later and still one pip. I am going to bed and hope to have more going on in the morning.

Congrats. How much sleep did you really get? I know I am totally restless on hatch night. Can't wait to hear your report.

On my first hatch as well. We are on day 18 and noticed for the first time that the eggs were rocking. Let the egg watching begin.

I am on day 20 on my first hatch as well. Today around 2 pm our first egg started moving and you could hear the little one chipping inside. After over 8 1/2 hours later it finally started to break the shell. I know how you feel with the anticipation.

So exciting! I'm still waiting to be able to see which eggs aren't fertile in the incubator. It would be scarey to me if all ten were fertile. I know that isn't much compared to what you guys have but it's a small incubator and that's a lot of babies to me. Of course, the more the merrier as they say.
Can't wait to hear your progress!

Today is day 21 and I awoke this morning at 3AM and could not go back to sleep. Still just one pip and no progress on that one. At 6 AM I see there is another pip, but no sounds (that I can hear) and no rocking. It is pretty tight in there. I decided to go to work and hope that I have babies when I get home. Am really nervous. I hear a lot about marans eggs being thick and hard to come out of. No difficult births, please. Thanks for checking in everyone, and am glad there are others doing their first hatch here also. What a team! Later
