Going to Tractor Supply was a mistake

Very fortunately, we have work planned for our garage in early April, and that's where our chicks are brooded. So, no chicks until that's all done. It's saved me from the horrors of the 50cent chicks offered there today!
In mid-April, I'm doomed...

Our TSC never has any chicks long enough to put them on sale/clearance.

Escaping out of the brooder eh? They’ll have to clear out soon.

I have three different brooders going in my bathroom. Two in the bathtub and one out of it. Yesterday a chick was making a fuss so I went to so what the problem was. She was between the bin and the tub. She could see all her buddies and couldn't get back inside.
Today, in the newbie brooder, I lost a baby. After removing the poor thing, I counted heads out of habit. 12. Wait, I bought twelve and one just died. How do I still have 12? I was about to come up with a while new facet to chicken math when I realized one of the babies had shoulder feathers and the rest are still barely showing wing feathers. That baby got from the bin at the front of the tub to the bin at the back and OUTSIDE of the tub!
