Gold Laced Orpington- For Learning and Sharing

Pics
I am a newbie. I have been looking for a breed to start my coop with and have fell in love with the gold lace orpington. I was wondering how often :/the GL will lay an egg. I have read that the English orpington do not lay as well as the standard orpington. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes that is correct, they do not lay as well as their American cousins. The American Orps were bred for production where the English Orps are bred for exhibition. In England and Australia they actually have a laying "season". We are still working on that

. You will find birds that lay better but you won't find any quite as beautiful as the English Orps

. Good luck with your venture, and by all means have fun!

Thanks. I am definitely looking for the Gold laced orpington, but am having trouble finding any for sale. Do you know where I can find a reputable breeder who sales them.

Is it better to have ones with darker gold or lighter coloring in gold

Does anyone have any glo for sale right now chicks or full grown either one?
