We just got 4 Golden Comet chicks from Tractor Supply 4 weeks ago and I have been feeding them Manna Pro medicated food. My first chicks were fed Dumour starter. These new chicks grew faster, bigger, feathered already at 4 weeks and are SMART!!! Is it the food or the breed? Does anyone know? My hens are Rhode Island Reds, a Tetra tint and 2 white hens (twins). They seem retarded in comparison.
Thanks!
btw, big Shirley turned out to be a roo .... she's been re-homed!

Check the label for the percent protein. I don’t know what it is on that specific product but it’s probably higher than the percent protein in the Dumor starter, though again I don’t know what Dumor Starter you used.

Chicks fed a higher amount of protein grow faster than chickens fed a lower amount of protein. That’s why chicks raised for meat are normally fed a higher protein mix than chicks raised to become a laying flock.

We used Dumor starter for three batch's of chicks, it's great.
