  1. My 3 year old Golden Comet Lucy has a pale comb for the past four months. She is eating less but not starving. She molted heavily for the first time but has been finished molting for at least a month. She has dropped from top of the food chain to almost the bottom. I wormed her and the whole flock almost two months ago when she was almost finished molting just in case. Her comb used to be flopped over also but that got better after the molt was done. I don't think she had a worm issue because I have brought my girls to the vet before and none have had any parasites or worms. We do not have mites. I checked the coop at night with a white rag and have not found any mites or blood. None of the birds have any mites. She is running around looking normal but underweight with a pale comb. She has not laid an egg in at least 4 or 5 months. I have done vet rx a couple of times which makes her comb brighten up a bit until the oil dries up and then it pale again so it doesn't change anything. she is not having any trouble breathing other than the comb and being underweight she looks normal. I am at a loss. Any suggestions?

It has been at least a month since she finished molting though. She hasn't been laying for more than 4 months...isn't that longer than normal?

She might be taking a winter break. A 3 years old GC isn't going to lay as consistently as she did at a year old. They generally lay heavy for a couple years, then slow down. She may start again when the days get longer.

It depends on where you are located. Are you in the US and is it winter time where you are?
Coastal Southeast Louisiana....I know they usually lay less it just seems like a long time for her to be so pale. I have about ten other chickens...different breeds...that are the same age and are not not laying yet or are just getting back to it but their combs are normal. I'm just concerned because it is super pale and has been for so long.
