I purchased 3 chicks from TS. They said the 2 yellow chicks are golden comet pullets. The black chick is a sex link. I’m not sure if the yellow chicks are pullets or even Golden comets. They are HUGE! Any ideas?

You got 2 Cornish Crosses. They are meat birds and what you buy in the supermarket.

    Not golden comets.
Appear to be Cornish X meat birds.

Thank you for the quick responses. I’m so mad at tractor Supply. I guess I need to educate myself.

What should I do with them? I raise them for eggs not meat.

If you’re not willing to put them in your freezer, I’d try to sell them to someone that will.
Or perhaps a trade for layers?
They’ll be useless as laying birds.
You’d think TS would provide at some basic education for their employees smh

I find this book very informative:

Thank you again for your advice. I will definitely check out the book. I contacted an acquaintance who raises chickens and asked him if he wants them. I’m also going to complain to TS. I’ve spent a lot of money on organic feed. They eat a lot! What about the little black sex link? I hate to leave her alone. Although with my luck this go around she’s probably a cockerel. Did I mention the BO died the day after I got them? I started with 4 and will end up with one hen if I’m lucky.

That’s terrible service on their part. At least some of the employees at my TS know something because they have their own chickens.
Maybe you could get another couple of sex links? Then you’d know they’re female.
You’ll have to integrate them with the other chick and that probably won’t work if the age difference is too great.
This is really causing some issues for you.

Or perhaps give all the chicks to your friend and start over?
