Golden comet?

I would bring them back to the store and explain LOUDLY for other customers to hear that you were sold meat birds that have a very, very short lifespan, instead of layers.

Sad thing is most Cornish x never live long enough to lay eggs. Due to their extreme growth rate, either the legs give out first or their organs.

I called the store and they are going to work with me on some type of credit/compensation. They basically admitted the sales guy is clueless. Luckily I found someone who is taking all 3 birds today! He raises chickens for meat and eggs, so they will be used for their purpose in life. Thank you all for your advice and support!! What a great group to be a part of!! Not sure if I’m up for another try this year, but maybe I a week or so I’ll feel different.

Meat birds can be raised as pets. Though with their smaller hearts and larger body size, they often don’t live long. But with a careful rationed diet, you can lengthen their life by quite a bit.
