Golden Comet's feathers won't grow back

And if you are going to use DE, make sure it is food grade and not for agcriculture grade, because the latter will hurt the chicken's lungs while dust bathing

Quote: I'm not a huge fan of chemicals myself, but I learned the hard way that sometimes it's the best way to go. DE is a good product and it has it's uses, but for something like a big mite infestation, I'll personally go with the sevin. One good treatment on the birds and in the coop is usually enough to eradicate the pests.

When mine are having difficulty replacing molting feathers I put them on starter grower for a few days, works really well for my birds.

I have 4 golden comets that are nearly 2 weeks old (Wednesday). They are doing great, have tail feathers and thriving. However, I've noticed their feathers look as if they are ready to fall out!! Looking very ratty. I know the chicks have been itchy as their new feathers are coming in but I never thought you'd see end of feathers.
Does anyone know what's going on? (Sorry if wrong place but couldn't find where to make own post)
Edit...they are ONLY on chick starter medicated feed, regular water started on day 7 w first week on electrolyte & probiotics water

Can you post a photo of what you are seeing?
They will constantly shed feathers until they get their "adult" feathers, so at 2wks, you will see the quills, new growth, then they will lose them, they will look ratty for a while.
