Golden Comets

I've read on the SLW thread that they lay cream colored smaller eggs. The dark one is rather larger for a first egg I think. Wouldn't a larger first egg mostly likely come from a genetically bred produced?

One of my girls look exactly like your light yellow one.....so she must be my Golden Comet...she's also a tiny bit larger then the others..I couldn't tell between the Buff Orphington and Comet. Thank you for the pictures...

So about how many weeks do most golden comet hens start laying? I have 3 who seem full grown, so I would like  to  know  when  they  will  start  laying.:yiipchick

I was told (and it had proven true) that you will see their comb/wattle become a brighter truer RED when they are ready to lay. Maybe it's tied into puberty, my Golden Comet when from a pale ashy red to a brighter color

Hopefully this gives you some idea of when. Also my girls eggs are a dark speckled brown color, that might help in identifying her eggs.

We have 1 Golden Comet and she is the sweetest chicken we have got ,We had ten but an animal broke into our lot and killed all of the Comets but 1 her name is Sally . We think it might have been a neighbors dog. What ever it was killed 20 of our chickens;16 of them escaped. She is the most gentile one that is why I called my username Pet 1 Sally .

Me and my sister has on Golden Comet we had ten but something killed the rest of them she was the only one left out of 10 Golden Comets .And she is the sweetest chicken that anyone could ever have she knows her name she comes running when she is called. Her name is Pet one Sally==She layed her first egg yesterday. They are smart chickens they may not be the prettiest chickens though.

Sorry for your loss. I have 6 old them and they are in the process of starting to lay. I'm getting 3 a day but it's sporactic so I don't know who is laying. I also have 3 Delaware and 4 White Plymouth Rocks. They are getting pretty mellow and I'm ready.
