My golden laced Wyandotte has a big straight comb. Why?

Straight combs are recessive to rose combs, so they do crop up from time to time when the recessive genes line up correctly. It's not a problem for a backyard bird, and you can breed him to your own hens for backyard/mixed breed chicks. It's a disqualification for showing, and if you were going to sell purebred Wyandotte chicks you shouldn't use him as a breeder.
