I picked up 6 of these pullets at my local Tractor Supply this week. I've tried googling them and can't find much info. They are possibly a Leghorn and Sussex sexlink? I called the tractor supply and asked what hatchery they used. I was told "Howard" and they should lay large-Xlarge light brown eggs. I also can't find any info on a Howard Hatchery. I plan to stop by tomorrow and ask someone else hoping for better answers.

Did anyone else get some of these chicks this year? What are your thoughts so far? They were on clearance for 0.75 each! I couldn't afford to leave them at that price. After raising chicks every spring for the last 8+ years these are by far the calmest, sweetest chicks we've ever had. If they continue to work out and lay well I definitely want more next year. Which is why I'm interested in locking down the source.

I've attached some pics. Looks like they'll be partridge colored. FYI the 2 smallest chicks came from the assorted bin. No idea what they are although 1 looks suspiciously like another Golden Pride.

I think you mean Hoover Hatchery. They supply all TSC stores.

I wondered about that too. Because they're listed on the Tractor Supply website. Yet I still can't find this type of bird on their website (TS or Hoover). So this doesn't help me with reordering in future years.

Possibly golden comet

I called Hoover and the customer service lady helped as best as she could. She said everyone they supply to calls their birds something different. Based on a description of the chicks she said maybe Golden Comet or Calico Princess. I'll just have to see how they mature and enjoy them as much as possible. Thank you for the replies! I really appreciate all the help.

Here's some new pics in case anyone would like to add some input. They just got moved to the barn and seem to be happily adjusting. They all have the same eye liner and chipmunk spot on the head.

HA! I get to whip out the quote I promised I would whip out when the TSC/Hoovers thing was posted. I also used to say "Hoover supplies all TSC nationwide".

"No. This is a point of some confusion. TSC sells Hoover chicks online. But they sell chicks from various hatcheries in their stores. (Much like TSC sells Dumor and Blue Seal feeds.)
My TSC, for instance, usually gets their chicks from Ideal and Murray McMurray."

Thanks! I'm going to pop by in person tomorrow and see if I can get a definite answer on the hatchery question. I'll check out those other hatcheries and see if I can possibly match these chicks up .

Mystery solved! This Tractor supply gets their in store chicks from Jenks Hatchery in Tangent Oregon .Two employees have me the same answer this time.

Confirmed on the Jenks webpage they do have Golden Pride birds! This is what they say about them "This unique breed is imported from the Czech Republic. A two-way cross between a Partridge male and a Sussex female, this breed forages well. It is a quality producer of 280-290 cream-to-white large-to-extra-large eggs per calendar year. Color sexable at hatch."

Thanks everyone who took their time to reply. This one took a bit of persistence and digging. Screenshot_20190402-104023.png

I actually have these exact same birds. I work for TSC. And when they came in most of the box was dead because they got to cold. But 7 of them survived. Out of that I got 4 roosters and 3 hens. One of my roosters (my least favorite has gone missing. Pretty sure a hawk got him). But I still have the other 6. They are getting to the point they are about to start laying. My roosters range in color from black and white. One of my roosters actually is black and white but is cover in what I would call rust on his body feathers. My hens coloring is from a buff to a light red (almost orange). I can honestly say they are great birds. These are the first chickens I have every bought. And still definitely buy them again.
The pics below are of my birds. Excuse the broiler.
