Hi everyone,

I need to get at least 2 more female ducks for my rambunctious drake. I want to order sexed ducklings but both me and my husband being gone for nearly 12 hours a day and 5 days a week but I am home on the weekends. I am second guessing myself and wondering if this is a good idea!

These little fellers would be set up in my house until fully feathered.

Thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated! Tell me the truth, my feels won't be hurt.

P.s. I have two 8 month old Pekin Ducks - one male one female.

When we got our babies I had to hire a duckling sitter. There were times I would have to be gone 24-72 hours at a time. I recorded myself talking to them and left it playing while I was gone and put one of my t-shirts in with them. We used a larger kiddie pool for a spot to keep them. I had a heat lamp for them and they had plenty of room . The girls across the street from me would check on them in the morning when they got off the bus and before bed if I wasn't home yet. Maybe a family member or someone you trust could check on them for you once a day.

Have you thought of older ducklings maybe already feathered?

Being retired I have never had to leave here for more than 3-5hrs at a time with babies so can't help ya. But if you had a really good set up brooder where they wouldn't run out of food or water it may work.
Can you order older ducklings?
Set up is going to be key!!

I'm thinking a duckling sitter would be a great option. I might have some one willing to help me out...She took care of my ducks while we went on vacation last year.

Can someone help my memory.....ducklings get fully feathered at what week and at what week would they start to try the mating thing..... I'm trying to figure how long I have to keep my current two separated,if I get ducklings. Or if I should try and find two more adult hens..... duck math is hard on my brain!! Lol
