hi everyone!

i recently rescued two bantam chicks from being pecked to death from a auction. i think they were around 1 1/2-2 weeks when i got them. they have been in a warm brooder for about 2 weeks, and are now spending the day outside! i’m hoping to keep them, (still trying to convince my mom :)) and during the day i’m keeping them in a spacey cage outside in the shade. what do you guys think of it? anything i should add? also, is there anything i should start doing to integrate them with 2 other hens?

If you want to start integration I'd start thinking about placing that set up inside the existing run or in an area your hens frequent, so they can see (but not touch) each other.
my run won’t fit this set up, but my girls free range all day and the area the chicks are in is the ‘begging’ area where they beg for scraps :lau but yes they do see each other almost all day!

yes they have a whole bunch of extensions! i’m just leaving it stationary in the winter.
I know you can add sections of run....but how to make the coop larger?
How hard is it to deal with in the winter?
Do you have covered run space to keep the snow and wind away?

the coop size is plenty big enough for my two and two bantams. i just got it this summer, but my friend has a insulator that goes over the entire coop! i’ve watched videos and the coop stays almost 10 degrees warmer than a wooden coop. as for a covered run, we put shower curtains over the run every winter to block snow and wind.
