Having set on Good Friday - that makes Tuesday lockdown day right? I had it on my calender as Wednesday and confused myself - it's three days before right?!?

For me, I actually put the eggs in the incubator on 4/21, so I think 4/22 would be day 1. That would make day 18, May 9.

I think.

Yeah, so that's May 10 for me. That's what I figured. Must have been having a blonde moment when I marked the calendar. Thanks

This day 13 for me. Stella's been sitting almost three weeks, if you count the week on fake eggs before I pulled the switcheroo.
I tried to candle but couldn't tell a thing with my dark eggs. Sometimes some of the nine eggs seem much cooler than others, but she rotates them and she hasn't given any of them the boot. It's odd having no idea if any or all of them are good. I just tell myself that mama knows best. Also, reading the broody hen threads I am lucky that Stella is so good-natured.
good luck everybody!

I loaded Friday night at 8:00 ,so I will lock down tuesday when I get home from work. Crissygirl don't worry about the blue eggs , I will candle a few of mine tonight and post pictures. Its normal for them to look like big dark blob , that's been my experience anyway.getting close guys

Yeah! On that note, when do you guys get the brooder ready? I'm thinking I'll do that after I set for lockdown - it's a makeshift brooder consisting of a large cardboard box, some towels, chicken wire lid and a heat lamp. I figured three days should give me long enough to fiddle around with it to get the temp right. What's everyone else doing?

I candled last night again. Wow, this is exciting. I have one extremely pourous egg. I mean really pourous - you can even see the shell is pourous without candling. The little chick inside is still wiggling. I am keeping up hope. Lockdown is Tues, I hope he makes it.

Also, when I candled last night it seemed like the little chicks are kinda sticking to one side of the egg. I had thought they would be in the middle. I have been turning three times a day...

I've read many times over on here that porous eggs can and do hatch. And if the chick is still moving, well, that just proves it! Also, if your your close to going on lock down, I would think the chick is taking up a lot of space and would seem to be stuck to one side. Don't count them out yet!
