Good Friday setting take a pic. of your eggs in your bator and join me

I went to lockdown today, all seem to be doing well. I started with 28 and culled 2 after about a week, they stopped developing. I lost power for 16 hours during the storms but it didn't seem to cause any problems. Hope to have 19 RIR and 7 EE chicks in a couple of days.

I've got a ? Maybe someone out there had this dilemma before . I have two settings in my bator when I set my second batch of eggs I didn't consider the humidity of lock down !! . First time I've had two different hatch dates in bator at the same time. My Qestion is I have humidity set at about 33% for the first 18 days, then up it to 70% after lockdown . But I don't want to drown the second setting of eggs . Should I keep my humidity at a lower than norm for the first hatch say 55 - 60 ? what do you think ?

Unless I am mistaken you purchased commercially available egg turners and installed them in your home built bator. Is that correct?

I was thinking about doing just that, but the turner I was looking at said "for use with XYZ brand incubator" so I wasn't sure if it just plugs into the wall or the incubators power supply.

Does it plug into the wall or did you have to hook it to some sort of power supply?

Regarding the humidity question, I personally would probably raise humidity two days before hatch rather than three. If you only raise it for a few days, hopefully that should be fine for the ones of a later date. How long between hatch dates? Will there be time for the later ones to "dry out" a little? 33% is a little lower than most recommend for the majority of the incubation period so it may be that the increased humidity won't harm the others... Thinking out loud - does it show?

Delmer yes got the tuners at farm and home and built the cabinet around the egg tuners. My bator is wired and has it's own 4way box inside. Then I have a on off toggel on the outside box . I think I have pictures , I'll post them in a few min. Have to go to computer to post. I live in benton harbor we must be close , were do you live?

I am about an hour away in Goshen IN. I have a buddy that lives in St Joe so I get to your neck of the woods once and a while. In fact I am long overdue for a visit!

Ya 120v , it's a small world , my brother lives in goshen . Good luck with the bator , I'm about 4 min. From down town St. Joe , north on M-63 4 miles , just holler if you want to look at mine . Or if you have any questions .

I finally got around to candling last night and 10 of the 14 look good. I can't see anything but the air cell. Darn maran eggs. I think 2 were infertile as they light up better than the others. I still don't trust my candling skills enought to take them out unless they smell. Today is lockdown for me
