The days seem so long, then their just over, and it's time for the babies to go to bed.

yup everynight at 7:30 sharp I go down in my OCD routine-

go to the "new coop" and lock doors -close windows-
go to the teenage coop over 10 weeks under 16 weeks ( 2 colored eggs layers 2 roos) pull the lever to shut the door and lock it
go to the other make shift orp coop-( 12 weeks old) grab the 4 and put in mini coop -lock doors
go through door into duck pen-grab runner duck-put in garage kissing the snot out of her-put her in the big boy garage/coop-shut door
go back and grab other runner duck-talk and kiss her neck while snuggling her because her heart is beating through her chest-shut door
go back and grab my big fat crested duck Chuckie-he doesnt run or struggle he knows the lovings are coming wether he likes it or not so now he just gives in the second we pick him up-he goes into big boy coop/garage too-
fill waters- food containers
do a head count-yup all home-even my WC polish (Judge Judy)

lights out-lock doors-cement block in front of door "just in case"

go to house

wala-15 minutes later Im back on BYC:)

My husband thought I was crazy when I insisted on having coops for different age groups. We now have an outside brooder, a teenage coop, and the main coop. We also have a small "box" for our broody hen and her eggs (now SEVEN CHICKS!). All so that our birds can get along. I do the head count also and oddly enough I put a cinder-block in front of my doors too. LOL

The cinder block gives me and no one else a better sense of protection-because if that bad boy can get my garage open and move the cinder block youve earned a chicken! Not really
