So I was was talking to my dad today about horses. For a little background on myself, my mare had to be put down two years ago. A year ago we bought a gelding from mexico. Good horse, but definitely much better for my dad. My dad picked him out, even though it was supposed to be my choice. Now we have one old gelding and one younger gelding who belongs to my dad.
Anyways, I sort of brought up the fact that I want a horse of my own in so many words. (surprisingly my mom supported me in the fact that Stetson is my dad's horse, rather than my own) At first my dad kept saying that Sonny (the old horse) is fine to ride. I told him that it will be difficult to go riding this summer if we are both going to want to ride Stetson all the time.
Soooo....after talking a little bit, he told me I could go look at horses this summer when I get out of school! Nothing expensive, but if I can find a nice trail gelding for $1000 to $2000 I should be able to get it. I'm so excited! Now hopefully my dad will hold true to his word! I just hope that I will finally have my OWN horse again for the first time in two years. I just want something I can load up and bring out on the trails with friends and not have to worry about it going lame all the time!
