Good way to mark babies?

Hi all,

I just had an okay hatch, but some of the babies appear to have some problems. I don't want them to be part of my breeding stock, but I do want them to reach 6 weeks if possible. So is there a good way to mark these babies so that I can tell them apart from the others? Some of them have physical issues that make it easy to tell them from the rest, but a few don't.

Thanks!

I mark my quails as babies with small elastic legbamds, changing to spiral ones when they grow bigger :)

I have not tried this yet but have considered using a small zip tie as a wing band. We use metal wing bands in the poultry and as long as you get it in the web the bird grows just fine with it. I think it would work well to use the tip of a small pocket knife to make the incision and then put the tie through.

Let us know what you end up doing and how it goes.
