So sad to hear of aart’s passing. She and her good advice will be missed.

I also never really got to interact with aart much directly, but I always saw her posts as so straightforward and well thought out, and she was a wealth of knowledge when it came to down-to-earth, practical chicken keeping. I had such respect and admiration for her ingenuity, common sense, and no-nonsense attitude, both when it came to chickens and what she shared of her life beyond the birds. Definitely one of the greats of BYC whose presence will be sorely missed.

RIP aart. I never really knew her very much but like others said, she was definitely a huge part of the fabric of BYC. It’s so sad.

I had noticed she’d not responded to posts lately and had wondered. I’m really sorry to see this news. I think we had a testy exchange early on when I didn’t get her style of relaying knowledge, but then much friendlier ones. She knew her stuff and she’ll be missed.

Thank you for sharing. I also noticed the absence. Wish we had the chance to tell her how much she helped the community. I liked her no nonsense knowledgeable responses. You could tell she really cared.

I will miss her. I think we all learned from her wisdom.
Someone needs to take up the banner of ‘where are you located’ in her honor (with the helpful screenshot of course).
