I'm sorry for your loss. I completely understand, having lost many animals over the years. It's true, its wonderful to surround yourself with all these great living creatures that make life so much better. But part of being a great owner is not letting your beloved pet suffer. I worked as a vet tech for many years. I helped euthanize many, many animals. I was fortunate that my boss would only put down animals that really needed to be put down, as oppossed to people that euthanize for convenience. I also unfortunately had to euthanize many of my own dogs and cats over the years. Cancer has hit my pets hard. I take comfort in knowing that whatever pain they were feeling in this life, will not plague them in the next. I also take comfort knowing that my pets left this world in a calm, peaceful, humane way. I agree, allow yourself to grieve. Sometimes we don't realize how much a part of our lives these little monsters are until they are gone. Please take care.

Wow, Weimaranas have such deep chests. So, sorry for your lossess. I

This is off topic , yet connected, a year ago this past Nov. I had stomach torsion, yes, bloat, almost had gangrene, from abdominal hernia and adhesions from a prior hysterectomy.

May, I tell you, that I know you did the right thing, as the pain does not stop, as the stomach twists, and excruitiating pain.
