I know this is a goose thread, but here is one of my Pekin x Brown Runner ducklings. This is Daffy, they are 6 wks old now. Daffy is crested on one side of its head, in this pic its the other side.

So cute, I think Pekins mix really well with other breeds Someone on the duck thread posted pics of their runner/pekin mix and it was adorable

Those eggs were given to me. My black one has a white chest. I had a chance to get their parents for free, pekin drake and brown runner hen but i said no. Hubby would have killed me lol he already says he needs to grow feathers so he can get as much attention as the birds. I didnt realize that ducks were so much messier than geese either lol

That's an understatement, about ducks being messier. Well I took that really dark egg out and candled again and could finally see it was just a big glob of blk liquid so I tossed it over the fence before it exploded. Now I'll have to probably take all the eggs away and break up the nest But I'll wait till Wed. today day 9or 10. She came out a while ago and was chasing the lil 4 week old ducklings, not sure of her intent.

She came out a while ago and was chasing the lil 4 week old ducklings, not sure of her intent.

well I candled a total of 5 today one I tossed the other 3 looked just like yesterday but there was one that although doesn't have any veining I'll keep a close eye on for the next few days, probably getting my hopes up for nothing. But as long as they don't blow up I don't have to be in a hurry, other than breaking Missy of her brood. which I don't look forward to.

That's funny because I get the same complaint about my birds. Course I daresant say a word about that Hog sitting out there in the shed [Harley]

Maybe its the good one ill cross my fingers. Finally threw out the 5 that was left in the nest didnt try after i found the gosling left behind the other day. 3 were developed 2 were bombs. One was a fully developed very pied pure chinese, it would have had a full white ring around its neck more pied than Stormy.

Instead of a harley for mine its hunting gear he has a whole bedroom full of stuff that he was only able to use when we lived in Colorado.

I sure hope you get some goslings from them. Have you had any of the embden/toulouse cross before? I hate throwing out eggs that were sat on. My white chinese tried going broody when Maggie did, with 8 eggs she came off after two weeks only one had a gosling in it. She was young i shouldnt have let her try. She seems to hate goslings anyway. I hope some start veining by the time you candle again. Id love to see what they produce.

My husband complains all the time about my geese, the horses and so. I have been trying to sell my 3 mini horses and nobody have been interested. We also have a quarter hore a dark bay overo and a tri colored leopard appy. I keep hearing rom him do not buy anymore animals!!!!!
So I have been trading for my sebastopols. It is just like paying except just exchange for them.

Well I got 2 buff girls & 1 grey boy from my trio eggs & 1 African, and from Fritter I got 2 buff girls & 1 grey all happy hatched & in the brooder !

Lost a buff from my trio & a fritter egg

just quit

Also have baby piggies !!! I got 10 babies all 2-5 days old

Ive come to realize that with geese/goslings that no matter what you do things happen. Ive known that a long time for the rest of the animals here though.

Im always "scheming" as he calls it, looking for some item i dont use, to sell it, when i find a new animal i want.
