Has anyone ever noticed that bowls are to baby ducks and geese as boxes are to cats? I put a bowl in the brooder last night and had all 5 ducklings sleeping in it within 30 minutes. Then Fatty McGooseGoose (not his official name) went and plopped himself in the middle, launching 4 of the 5 ducklings up the slick sides and out onto their fluffy butts before they even had time to wake up. If the reverse slide action didn't wake them, I'm sure that my laughter did.I guess they need a bigger bowl.
Also, I've had a drake take turns sitting on various nests - goose, duck, whatever. He only stays a few hours, but sits right on the nests. He's a muscovy/harlequin mule, so he's already a bit mixed up.
