GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

Sorry about that last post, I just couldn't resist.

Anyway ... just wanted to pop up a few more pics and an update on Merc & all his sibs now.

Merc will be six weeks old tomorrow 7 July, all his sibs range from 5 weeks to approx. 2.5 weeks. And of course Aunt Aflac has to be close by.

With all due respect, please refrain from discussing geese as meat on this thread. This thread is meant to be about hatching and caring for geese and most of us regulars on this thread keep geese as pets. There is a meat section on the forum or you can create a new thread in the goose forum.

Thanks.

My 10 week olds are similar in size to my adults. Makes it harder to distinquish them from a distance.
How about some pics.

Well, goose hatching season is officially over at my place. My dewlap girl finally gave up and left her nest. While I was surprised she didn't have goslings, I'm relieved to not have to worry about selling her babies. We are all glad to have survived another breeding season and look forward to watching the babies that hatched out this year grow up.

On a side note... Bolshy (our blue scory who tried to steal my dewlaps' nest) and our remaining white scovy both decided to up and leave horse pasture again to return to the dewlaps' yard. I have no idea why they would rather be in a house yard instead of the big pasture, but I'm not complaining. It's nice to see them out my window again.

On a totally random side note.... my pigeon went broody a couple of days ago. So I got a pair of fertile eggs from a friend to replace her dud eggs. If all goes well, she could hatch a baby or two in a couple of weeks.

Aww look forward to seeing Pigeon babies I bet so tiny. and also the outdoor aviary when ya'll finish with it.

Have you ever seen a pigeon baby? They are pretty ugly!

The aviary will probably be a few months in the making, and we have to redesign it as we have moved the site location for our new house. However, Chloe has zero desire to go outside. We leave the window wide open in her room, but she won't even venture close to the windowsill. It is very odd to me, but she seems perfectly content to live inside the house.

Spoiled rotten pigeon lol I imagine baby pigeons look very similar to other birds when hatched, naked as a jay bird. So onward to your new your new house sounds like all is a go??
