I lost another solid white this morning. Not sure how looked like it just laid down and died. She has 7 fluff balls with her now, Daddy Tufted has taken on his role of father finally and hasnt left their side. I was trying to clean out the nest picked up one egg and there was a freshly hatched goslings covered in dirt under it. Hes alive and i have him inside. I gave him a bath and blow dried him but its still iffy, hes lively but im not getting my hopes up like i did on the others. Worst part is hes what ive been wanting, hes not normal colored. Doesnt look like a white or a brown, hes silver. I have understood that is what a dilute gray looks like as a gosling from what ive read. None of his hatch mates look like him.

The little silver died. I had him for an hour. Ive still got my other 7 though.

Aww so sorry, I know your are happy to have the 7 though and hope they thrive and mom and dad are great parents.

Now I have a question, it's still pretty early but I did candle Missy's eggs this morning and out of the 9 only 2 look like there maybe some hope, I'll candle again Sunday and should know for sure , Question if the other eggs are no good or none of them are no good, should I go ahead and take all the eggs toss and just let her get over it,

and if 1or2 are looking good do I take out the other 7 and let her just have the ones growing, dh was concerned she may not sit if we take the other eggs. Advise. I am worried in the heat of summer we may get some rotten eggs if we let her keep sitting on eggs that aren't developing.

I mean im not one that you are wanting answers from, but when my chicken was setting a goose egg for me i thought it was bad right up until the day it externally pipped. At first no veining or spider, then it looked rotten like stuff was floating in it when i turned it while candling it didnt look normal. I almost tossed it 2 or 3 times. It didnt stink so i let her keep it thinking she would leave on her own and get over being broody. Sure enough on the last day when i was gonna toss it there was a pip with an orange bill sticking out. It finished hatcher in the hatcher though. I hope yours are like the one i had and you get more than 2.

Yay for Missy being broody and hope at least a couple of eggs are fertile!! I'd wait at least another week before pulling any eggs from her, just in case they are slow developers.

Thanks J, I really got away with it , yesterday was only day six. Today when I gave out corn and meal worms Missy came out to have a bit of feed/snacks and water time, and Sam went inside and laid next to the eggs, I was looking for him and yep there he was laying there, it was such a tender sight. He goes in and spends time just laying there with Miss when she is sitting. So different from ducks and drakes. this is really a special bond. Also his Muscovy duck who hatched him is brooding on nothing, but he does go in and visit with her too. lol

Im waiting for them to bring them out in the yard to get pics. I had to pick a couple up they crawled out through the fence, almost got my face ripped off.
