GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

Darn! I went into the geese's shed and there was an egg in the nest! Unfortunately it belonged to a Speckled Sussex. What a let down!

Decided to thin out some of my flock so i picked two pied chinese pairs to sell. That leaves me with two pied females left to carry on the breeding. I wanted to put them on BYC sales but it wouldnt let me post them.
Still no eggs from the others. In hoping for some by atleast next week.

Hey guys, my little baby isn't such a baby anymore! She's starting to feather and is the best pet ever! Can't wait to get her into the big diapers though. She's growing too fast for any of the baby ones. I've given up trying to guess what she's a mix of... All I know is that she's smart and sooooooo loving. Started growing fodder in 5 grow trays, each 2 days apart so there's a constant supply. We've been going on nightly walks, to the park and on outings... They love it.

Goose hugs.... Always wrapped around my neck when she's in my lap. Something tells me I'm going to regret that when she's 30 pounds or so lol

Passed out after a walk tonight :)

She's so tuckered out. Sleeps like a baby!
At one of the local parks this week.

They follow their respective "mom" without hesitation, but are the best of friends.

I miss when mine did that. :( Looks like a Canadian mix or something.

Thank you Seminole! Harper, the guy I got the eggs from swears he has 4 breeds in free range. Pilgrim, Chinese, Sebastepol, and Embden. She's gigantic. I mean a good solid bit bigger than anything we hatched from the guy, even ones we know were boys cause we saw a penis and hatched the same day. I'm thinking maybe she's got some Embden in her.. I thought it was Pilgrim, but all the real feathers coming in are different colored than the fluff. Thought that grey turned brown and yellow white... But that's not the case with these guys. So I haven't the slightest clue lol Thought they were Chinese at first cause her beak was really high. I've come to terms with not knowing until after a year.

I got my first egg today!!!!! Its a first time goose that laid it! Long skinny and spattered with blood. It could be my chinese or my toulouse. It is huge though compared to my first egg i got from my chinese last year that was a first timer.
