GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

Laid this morning, it is the 6th egg laid by a first year Tufted Roman x brown chinese cross. For added info, i have not seen a gander pay attention to her at all and up until yesterday she was loose with 7 ganders

It is for sure fertile! That's awesome!
Fertility has nothing to do with yolk color, that is dependent on their diet. If you feed more corn, the yolks would be a richer orangey color. But who wants to feed their geese corn!?!
There are other things that will give the same effect, but I can't remember the exact thing that causes it, but I know corn has this property.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
:weee

I hope they are still fertile in 10 days. Thats how long i was told to wait before expecting it to belong to the gander she is penned with.
Thanks

My eggs when fertile are very deep orange and yellow when infertile :/
And you should check if they mate so that you can be sure its fertile :)

8geeselaying thats what i do also with my eggs because i dont chance opening a egg to see if its fertile but i incubate and wait to see if ive blood vains in da egg and if its clear by day 10 or has blood rings etc. I toss them out

I may just do that with the rest of these after day 10 of them being penned together. Just set them and hope for the best. Im only going to set 6. Had my hands full last year with 15 goslings i was raising and 7 the geese were raising.
