Well Sophie actually is a Stu. My Seb male used to chase him away all the time. But now they take turns. One week alternating, LOL. It's funny when you see one alpha turn into the bottom goose on the totem pole!

So that's why your Seb gander was chasing and being mean? well I never would have thought. So what does that mean as far a goose to gander?

For some reason the adult male was threatened by "Sophie", who turned out to be a gander coming of age. He's really a gander now. They've been taking turns being the boss. I have one other gander that does not seem to be a threat to either of the other males. I don't worry as much now since they are forced to alternate. It's just funny .

I'm thinking about breeding my pair of Embden geese but I don't know what the odds are that they're brother and sister or related in any way. I ordered them from Purely Poultry and they have always been happy and healthy. Just don't want to hatch any inbred goslings! Any advice??

Greetings from San Antonio, TX. I find myself in a bit of a dilemma regarding breeding my American Buffs. I have three ABs; 2 males and one female. They are 6 months old. My dilemma is the following. One male AB is very nice looking, large and graceful, but he is very flighty and noisy (not the docile and gentle AB that is usually described). My other male is also large and good looking, but has either Twisted Wing Tip or Angle Wing (both wings). This male is very docile, calm and not flighty at all (demeanor that is generally described for ABs). So, despite the extensive literature review I have conducted, it appears that the extensive writings on the cause and difference between Angel Wing and Twisted Wing Tip is inconclusive. While I would very much like to breed the more calmer of the ABs instead of the flighty and nervousy one, I am concerned with passing the Angel Wing or Twisted Wing Tip gene. Is it a recessive gene (assuming that it is a genetic trait)?
I appreciate any advice.
