Goose Egg Incubation

I have him on an organic chick starter (DUMOR to be exact). I have not added any supplemental ingredients to provide him with niacin, but I'll definitely look into that. He also eats lots of grass seeds when walking through the yard, and the occasional moth when it flies into his brooder. I'll put in a mirror tomorrow morning. Thanks for all of the help while I've been hatching this goose. Here is a pic of him from just a few minutes ago.

Well, I'm not 100% sure on the sex. If I did it right, I believe I have a female, but no, I have not came up with any names yet. Any suggestions?

Mabe just "baby gos" for now till you know.LOL My geese know their names it's so cute when they turn their heads and talk to me when I say their name.

Ganders are larger but that comes later. Only way to know for sure is vent sexing and if your new at it there is always a risk of injury to the gosling. So best to just wait.

I reread the entire thread but couldn't find it anywhere. Is this a wild Canada goose or did you buy the eggs from a hatchery?

I'm wondering this too. I also didn't know it was a Canada goose. If that's a domestic one that you got through legal means, make sure you pinion it. Otherwise it'll try to fly off when it's migration time, and not knowing the routes it won't make it and it'll die. That's if you don't plan to keep it always in a covered pen so it can't fly off.

About 12 years ago, one of my parents friends purchased Canada geese from a hatchery. They were not pinioned or anything. Over the years, they have expanded their flock to about 37 geese. I was able to get eggs from them, and no, I did not buy or trade them. The eggs were in a nest that had been found by a raccoon. Only two eggs were still in-tact, and the parents abandoned the nest. --gosh, I hate raccoons and possums with a passion--. Anyway, they gave the eggs to me and I put them in an incubator. These geese are resident and never leave (or never have). They travel between 6 ponds and 1 lake throughout the year. One pair stays at our house year round because we feed them. I'll post a pic:
