Goose incubation

5 pips tonight. Still waiting on some actual hatching.

Lockdown is just that... Just like with chickens you up the humidity, but higher with waterfowl, and do not open the bator at all and during this time cooling and turning is not needed...

Just got home from work. Three eggs have hatched. I can see at least 6 more pips of various sizes. At least one other is doing some heavy duty rocking.

There are currently 7 hathed and 2 almost completely zipped. The other 5 haven't pipped, but today is only day 29 so there is still plenty of time.

I have the broodiest momma goose you have ever seen so she does all the work for me until they hatch She does all the incubating, misting and turning. I remove them from the nest when they each hatch and then I take over from there. She had just set for 2 1/2 months on two different nests continuous and now she found a nest with 2 eggs that my emden had made so now she thinks its time to sit again for another round. The rest of the females just let her have at it now while they graze. swim and have a good time and she does is sit but she seems perfectly content with that.

Too bad you aren't closer, I've got 3 male embdens, 1 I hatched last year, the others were supposed to be a pair

I'd trade you an embden gander for a couple babies

I'd gladly make the trade if you were close enough. We've tried to find a gander but have been unsuccessful so far.
