Goose killing neighbors

So the fence doesn't go around the pond? I was thinking it did. the neighbor could just walk up and take the goose that easy. did he ever lodge a complaint about the geese? I wish there was a way of finding out I think I'd be setting up game cameras[without neighbor knowing of course ]There are always going to be people who hate anything that goes on in a neighborhood they live in but to take it out on innocent animals is appalling.

Surveillance cameras are becoming more affordable. We have 10 cameras; two of them have night vision. Our house is on a cul de sac where we've been having bad problems with people throwing garbage in the retention pond and peeing in the bushes next to our house, plus my husband had a trailer stolen some years back. Last time I was at Costco, I saw a home security system that included 7 HD cameras with software for $234. They are a great investment!

Surveillance cameras are becoming more affordable. We have 10 cameras; two of them have night vision. Our house is on a cul de sac where we've been having bad problems with people throwing garbage in the retention pond and peeing in the bushes next to our house, plus my husband had a trailer stolen some years back. Last time I was at Costco, I saw a home security system that included 7 HD cameras with software for $234. They are a great investment!

Sure sounds like it. I only have one game camera set up towards my outer goose and duck house but they work great too. If we were having problems like Ya'll I'd dif check out a home security system.

Ha I wish I still lived in Hawaii!!!! That was a photo from a 2012 vacation to Maui. We live in unincorporated Bothell, Washington (about ten minutes east of Seattle). We have a house alarm in case of break in. The surveillance cameras are connected to Blue Iris so we get email notifications of activity near the front door. We have several pointed at the cul de sac where the problems are happening. Right now, my husband runs out and shames the people who are littering and peeing, hoping that will be enough of a deterrent. Unfortunately, they keep doing it. The worst culprits live 3 houses down from us. Why they can't use the toilet in their house, I don't know. Hubby is keeping all the recordings to seek legal recourse through the home owner's association, but I'd rather just focus on getting our finances in order so we can move early next year. It's just not worth all the negative energy.

Well it's a nice pic. My gosh i don't know how you can stand it, I am so thankful we don't have neighbors. I know there are good ones but we've had some not so good over the years too. Hope you can find a nice piece of property and get some peace.

Thanks Sky, I picked up Kiwi today and now hes back at the house, he remembered exactly where everything was.. who says they arent smart?! I guess I need to find yet another friend for him, unless do any of you think that he might "parent" the eight goslings on the way?

I have pretty big news! A very close friend of mine and an old neighbor moved to 50 acres a year ago, he has built three houses on the land and rents out two... I just found out he has a pond. He's a hunter, so he traps and kills all pest animals that are in/near his property constantly. The pond is right next to one of the "for rent" houses and is willing to take in Kiwi and possibly his new friend, and even offered to let me stay there on the farm over the summer with my eight goslings!!!!
Of course there will be a run through of the property and I wont let them stay there if there are any obvious risks, he's also putting up hot wire on the fence around his land.

We also found the perfect night-house for the geese. It's a 4x8 dog kennel and it's 6' tall, solid wood planks up about four feet, then the next two feet is heavy duty wire and bars, there is an option to put the heavy duty wire also on the top, or a full wood top. That will give each goose 4 feet of room at night, and there is also an 8x8 option I'm looking into.

I'm glad that you were able to get Kiwi back and perhaps save him from suffering the same fate as poor Charlotte and I hope that you're able to move away from that terribly
unpleasant neighbor. Life's too short to have that much hate and anger stuffed within. I almost feel kind of sorry for him...almost !!!

Pile of feathers usually means a struggle. Dog or coyote seems likely or even raccoons. Barn owls take large birds too. If it isn't hot-wired and fenced all around, night predators can and will get in.My dogs just cornered a large possum the other night , but haven't had any attacks on my birds in 8 years as they are hot-wired and lit and penned at night. But we have coyotes, dogs, bobcat, raccoons , skunks, everything. Even eagles about 15 miles away .... I lost full grown geese to raccoons 20 years ago in a double fenced yard.... Coyotes often live very close by and usually you won't ever see them, but they watch us. If you see them in daytime, they are probably 'coydogs' (wolf blood in them), particularly east of the Mississippi. Most people who don't handle birds ....don't really know how....and they say people are more afraid of grown geese than dogs. So if it wasn't shot....likely hood of someone who doesn't know birds moseying in and taking one from a flock situation is not very likely....
