Goose lost feathers 3 weeks ago, no signs of any regrowing.

You know chicken will eat feathers if they are lacking protein? Do you think they could actually be plucking them them out mine do it to each other

it might be this, tomorrow morning i will start mixing the wheat i was giving them with this new higher protein feed (19%) and see what happens.

i don't know though, a picture would be so much better to have right now so you could see what i'm talking about, unfortunately it's night so i cant take any. It looks like though as if she has lost the feathers from half her neck, the head and the higher half of the neck are fine, the rest just looks like they are new feathers growing back, way shorter that the others, but they have been that size for a month now... the ones on the wing are not present at all almost, there are only the "bones" that the feathers should be attached to, not the wing bone, i'm talking about the feather bones, the ones in the center of the feather.

right, i went to the coop to see if she was still awake, and she was!

What are you feeding them again? Sounds like either feather plucking and eating or she has a deficiency of some kind but you said she is laying eggs right? Are the shells good an tuff? Get some pics once it’s daylight. Maybe

i am feeding them regular chicken feed (wheat and other stuff like that) and leftover veggies from the house. Tomorrow i will switch to this new feed that is made of multiple flours and has added in all the needed nutrients for both geese and chicken.

as you can see from the pics, the neck is normal, the rest of the body isn't.

yeah, we got her when she was 3 weeks old and she has lived with them ever since (she is 10 months old now), she always had normal feathers until march this year. She lays every day or two, the eggs are regular, 150-160 grams with a thick eggshell. never seen any of her feathers, but i know the chickens love to eat the feathers that fall off of other birds, if they are on the ground they'll just eat it, so that's maybe why i havent seen any.
