so exciting...

There here!!!!!!! They all look great and have been eating, drinking, and making sure everyone knows that they have arrived!! I will post some pics later. Janet thanks so much for all you have done!

Here's the crew meeting their new buddies through the fence. They are really beautiful and I do believe they will help my white breeding program because my current whites (which came from Strombergs) are lacking arch to their necks and the upright tails. I do however believe that the rescued whites have chinese mixed in with them. They have completely smooth abdomens like Chinese geese and are not nearly as large as my other Africans. Janet, please don't think I am upset about this though. They are gorgeous and like I said I still think they can help my white breeding program.

Here is a young brown African female (hatched in April) for comparison and one of my mature Buff ganders.

Jen, thanks for the pics!! I don't think they are crossed, as their parents are the white african trio that I sent to Marty. Maybe they didn't get enough grain supplement (they got sloppy 2nds after my crew ate first) and were burning calories off too fast trying to keep up with my crew 24/7 free ranging our 9 acre property? FYI, I believe they are May babies, based on size and feathering when I first got them home.

No, they are in very good flesh. Did the trio have the same sort of abdomen (smooth). Africans are supposed to be smooth breasted and lacking a keel but are very full in the abdomen. I don't think it would have been a very recent cross, but they definitely look to me like someone added Chinese blood at some point. That could be how they obtained the white. They also have the much higher pitched voices like I am used to hearing from Chinese. My Africans have a range of sound of course but are much deeper voiced. I still love them and think they are beautiful! They are settling in well.
