I love all of the pics!! Hope everyone keeps them coming!! Anyone heard from Krafty Ladies, Abacus, Berner Babe, Jen C, or Lightning?? I would love to see new pics from them, too!

Hubby refused to help me pull parts and/or work on truck today. He said it can wait until Thursday when the highs will be in 40s instead of 20s. I guess I cannot blame him, but that means shipping will now be scheduled for next Monday. Sorry!

By the way... I forgot to mention it before, but Spirit is 6 months old today.

Monday is good, hopefully they dont hit any glitches or delays due to the holiday next week. Will have to make it work though. All of you are winter prepping and we are full swing breeding season prep here. Not a bird on property who doesnt know what is right around the corner. We have breeding going on everywhere so Dec 1 is separation weekend once and for all. Even the Buff Dewlaps are breeding regularly at this point. Of course Valkarie thinks he is a stud with all of these girls right now lol.

Currently 6 weeks out before I expect first Sebastopols eggs.

I was willing to work in the cold to have my truck going again! Oh well, now he gets to drive Spirit/me to the vet tomorrow morning. Poor Iain. lol

Thanks, Lydia!!

Shellie, I know! But I think he likes to hear first hand what the report is on Spirit's progress, so won't complain too much.

By the way, I find it crazy that your geese are all in breeding mode. My guys are too busy trying to stay warm to be in the mood.

yeah its crazy to read snow reports while I sweat and watch gander fights and plan temp fencing. Feels like it was just August and I was thinking we had so much time. LOL

Hope you get a good report tomorrow.

We are now dealing with the deep freeze after the heavy snow. Tonight is supposed to be near 0F. Turns out, waterfowl in general do not do well in deep snow. I got worried about our horse property group when they didn't come up for food for 2 days... although I have trekked down to pond or stream a couple of times to try to coax them up. I decided to finally herd them.. I first set up fresh kiddy pool and buckets, piles of grain on top of spread out hay... then with hubby's help, got them to their shelter. They ate a bunch while laying down to warm up, hung out for about 15 minutes, then Alpha (my 15yo-ish gander) decided it was time to lead everyone back to stream for the night. The ducks, meanwhile, put themselves up into coop after getting a good meal in them. Poor things, I had to carry a couple of them as they were shivering so bad and struggling too hard to get through the snow on the walk to the coop area. We made a deep bedding of hay for the dewlaps in their sleeping area and gave them extra food and fresh water. Got a cool sequence of shots of the africans crossing stream to come to me. Stream is running hard so they have to stay swimming towards upstream while crossing.

You have such a beautiful stream for the water lovers. I wish I had something like that for mine. I decided to keep the ducks in the barn today as I can't keep water available for the calls at the same time. But my geese don't really want anything to do with the barn. We may have to heard them in after to long as its just gonna get colder and snower. It's only time now to wait for the junk to really hit.
