yeah, it definitely takes some practice to be good at it. Been hunting for ganders this afternoon now with none to be found anywhere
and I wont use the production boys because i wont make that cross.

If long range forecasts hold true, I will be able to ship Krafty's 6 pack and Jen's 4 pack out on Monday!! I took a few pics of them today.
As you can see, it was amusing trying to take pics of Jen's birds. They'd circle in to try to get close, but my two bonded ganders were on serious guard duty. Then, they'd get near my other ganders, who each have their own girls to guard.

Here is a pic of the white african goose trio. We filled up the old pond with the pool water for fun, when we emptied to pool. Thought all the geese would love it. They were COMPLETELY TERRIFIED (sebbies and toulouse) but the Africans took too it instantly.

Marty, looks great give the other breeds some time, neither have seen water like that since you only used kiddie polls before. Once they see it is not a threat they will investigate.
The Fantastic 5 (arrived yesterday) shared a stall wall with the 4 Pack (group we hatched and bought). Went in this morning to all of them chatting softly to each other. The 4 Pack ushered past the 5 and showed them the best grass, and where the garden gate is to the front where they are all stomping in mud and water currently. The Fantastic 5 went right to bed last night watching the others head in they just followed along like they have always been here and sleeping in their stall. Without looking at leg bands they are all very similar in size except 1 who is tiny visually. Broken foot girl has a very slight limp to her gate as Janet warned, but she doesnt limp at all if she is on the soggy ground.
The Fantastic 5 didnt hardly touch their feed pan yesterday, but were on grass overload all afternoon. They did however dive into the feed this morning.
Oh and we have a very upset 4 pack of sebbies this morning. We took them out of the mix with the 4 Pack and left them in the garden. Tri a gander we are keeping thinks he is a Dewlap and needs to figure out he is not. So they have the garden and are sharing it with the oldest Ancona ducklings today.
Going to do a round of DNA gender tests on all dewlaps after the next round ship in. There is a price break for so many, so going to remove all doubt on everyone and have certificates on them as well. Will make planning for next year easy too since I dont like what ifs and wait and see.
....................side note they just had their first welcome to the island rocket launch and didnt even look up!

Marty, I got your text saying they arrived and were doing well, but no picture.
Celtic, sounds like an excellent plan to dna sex them. I think I will do the same for all the dewlaps I have kept. I'm not surprised your new babies did not react to the launch. They have been living against my road with all sorts of loud and scary stuff passing them, and got very desensitized to it.

Iain, yep its a sure bet all of them are being DNA tested lol. Did you see my email yesterday? Waiting for our feed store to call back for our order or I would just call you.
